Five years ago the HLS-EU consortium published the results of the European Health Literacy Survey. It made a strong impact and we received the European Health Literacy Award for the social and political impact. Meanwhile, it has been amazing to see how the study has triggered actions across European countries and across the world and it has been a great inspiration to meet people from near and far fighting to make a change improving health literacy.
In spite of progress, health literacy remains a public health challenge we cannot neglect. To live a long and healthy life, health literacy matters.
